Cyber Monday. BOGO Today.

Hello Reader,

Happy December! We are one step closer to 2026. I hope this past year has brought you laughter, love, and lots of favorite books. About a month ago, I tried a new format for these newsletters, and I've come to the conclusion that I need to do what feels right for me. Not necessarily what I should do (per the experts), but what is aligned with me as a writer.

So here I am, back to talking about my writing, my gratitude, and my reading recommendations. Enjoy!

Writing Corner

Okay, so I have to tell you. I have a new audiobook out and it is the most perfect listen for the holidays. It's rather short (four hours to be exact), and the narrator, Tricia Murphy, brought my characters to life. As I listened to the proof, I was cracking up and thinking, "Yesssss! That is exactly how I heard her in my head when I was writing her"). I think you'll love it.

You may have read this book already, as it came out last year, but I got creative and re-covered it. What do you think? The cover now denotes the lighthearted feel of the story.

A wedding, a snowstorm, and a road trip with your ex…what could possibly go wrong?

Cassidy McCarthy, a single woman from Tampa, is on her way back to Boston for the first time in years to attend her best friend’s wedding. While guilt has kept her away from her home and family, she simply can’t turn her best friend down.

At the airport, Cassidy becomes stranded by a freak snowstorm and is unexpectedly thrust into the path of her ex, Dusty. Forced to share the last rental car and a journey up the Eastern seaboard together, they are confronted with the shared past and buried emotions they both presumed long gone.

Cassidy can't help but wonder if their story isn't over yet...

When Dusty arrives at the wedding with another woman on his arm, Cassidy is thrown for a loop and reminded yet again of the destructive behaviors of her past. Will she find the strength to fix her mistakes and preserve the relationships she holds closest to her heart, or will she return to Florida alone?

It will be up on all retailers, as it is in the process of publication.

But just for you, you can download it for free from my shop.

I need a catchy name. What should I call it? Edy's Bookshop? Boring. Edy's Book Haven? Eh. Edy's Book Lair? Too thrillery. Edy's Book Emporium? I kind of like that! If you have a better suggestion, please email me! I need some help branding my store.

When you visit the site, be sure to browse the ebooks and use the following promo code: 50EBOOK. Stuff your Kindle with E.D. Hackett Books for 50% off!

Gratitude Corner

It's a new month, and I'm turning over a new leaf. November was tough for me. Work stress, darkness, kid stress, sickness...

Let's just say I'm glad it's over.

Yesterday I moved furniture and set up a new workstation. I now have an allocated desk to type-type-type and I don't have to run around the house collecting whatever I need. As I sit here, my family is watching football, food is in the oven, and I have a space that actually works.

It's awesome.

Reading Corner

If you're looking for a feel-good holiday story, check out Holly and Ivar by Janet Koops. She writes sweet holiday stories that are perfect for Hallmark. If you're into that genre, you'll love it.

She runs a family toy empire like a Fortune 500 CEO. He talks to pine trees. Obviously, they’re meant to fall in love.

Holly Kringle doesn’t have time for snowy festivals, small-town charm, or mysterious park rangers with strong opinions about tree preservation. She’s in Winterwood, Vermont for one reason only: to scout a location for a new toy manufacturing site and get back to work.

But Ivar Nilsen has other ideas—mostly involving protecting the forest, finding a tree from his childhood that may or may not glow, and figuring out why Holly is so tightly wound.

As holiday magic stirs and secrets begin to surface, Holly starts to wonder if there’s more to life than spreadsheets... and more to Ivar than plaid and pine needles.

This brand new standalone book in the Kringle Cousin universe promises a heartwarming romance filled with small-town charm, snowy adventures, and just the right touch of Christmas magic.

Thanks for hanging out with me! I hope you have a great December, and don't forget to check out A Trip Down Memory Lane!

Edy.
