Family is Family...Cozy Reading Just for You!

Hello Reader,

Somehow, August 15th came and went. I wanted to send out my newsletter to you then, but the chaos of returning from vacation and getting ready for a new school year overtook all my concentration. In just a few days, I will be entering my 20th first day of school. It's kind of hard to imagine being one of the older ones.

I never thought I'd be twenty years in, but here we are.

In this update, you'll learn about:

--Blue Spruce Hills, Violet McFadden, and Family is Family

--My rabbit hole down Cozy Fantasy

--My recent trip to Maine

A few newsletters ago, I talked about how the song "Amazing" by Aerosmith was the theme song for my main character, Violet McFadden, in Family is Family.

Now I want to share the song that inspired the story. I had never heard this song, but after researching lyrics involving gratitude and family, Family is Family by Kasey Musgraves came up. Has anyone heard of it?

As I listened to the lyrics, it reminded me of my family, which then inspired the relationships within my novel. Violet and her ex-husband and Violet and her four teenage daughters propelled the story forward, creating characters that feel real.

One recent reviewer said that the characters were easy to visualize, and to me that is a win. I always want my characters to feel like someone you know.

If you are interested in reading this cozy women's fiction before it comes out, you can get an Advanced Reader Copy through Booksirens. Download it to your computer or your Kindle, and give it a read. I'd be grateful for your thoughts and feedback.

The other big thing that has been taking up a lot of brain space is my work-in-progress. My original goal by the end of summer was to have the first draft completed, but I'm not there yet. I'm probably two-thirds of the way through, and I am confident in where the story is going. It's a cozy fantasy with a strong female protagonist who is an Enneagram 1 (the idealist). She knows right from wrong and will fight for those less fortunate. She isn't afraid of taking risks, is organized, kind, and compassionate. Oh, and she loves to drink tea and nap in her soft, mossy nest.

I don't have a date for publication, as I don't even know if this story is going to leave my computer, but it has been fun creating a world unlike anything else I've written. I don't have a working title, but this little rhyme feels right.

Lastly, my family and I just returned from a trip to Northern Maine. We stayed smack between Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park and Moosehead Lake. Now, if you're from Maine, you might be thinking that Moosehead Lake and Acadia are not close...and you are correct! Each day we had an hour+ ride, but thankfully we were blessed with decent weather. And I even made it to Stephen King's former house!

That's it here! I hope you all enjoy the rest of August.

I'd love your support to get Family is Family out into the world. If you'd like to be part of a small, intimate Facebook group where I lean on you for suggestions when writing my novels, and then ask you to help spread the word, I would love to have you.

Edy
