Let the Summer Fun Begin!
|
Hello Reader, Summer is here, and I am overflowing with bookish news! Summer is my typical time to buckle down and get things done. My writing goal for the summer is to draft my next novel....A Holiday Made in Ireland. I can already see the cover, and the characters have come to life in my mind. I've decided to continue Jaime and Rory's relationship rather than switching to another couple because I love them too much. I can't seem to let them go. As you can imagine, it takes place in Ireland (my favorite place on Earth). I think the hardest part about being an author is having a plethora of ideas and not enough time to execute. How do you decide which idea takes priority? It's so hard. Sometimes I wish I could stay home forever and type day and night. Honestly, writing is when my heart is most full. With years of practice, I have somehow learned the beauty of revisions, feedback, and edits, in addition to storytelling. Author LifeWell, I was recently invited to attend a book event (as an author!) at the Southeast Lighthouse on Block Island this summer! I cannot wait to share my love for Carly, Joanie, and Jackie. I mean, to meet other authors, locals, and visitors and share the story behind Joanie, Jackie, and Carly? It's truly a dream. The date hasn't been set, but it will likely be in August. I'm ALSO attending the 1st Mini-Connecticut Bookish Con in Torrington, CT on August 1st. This event sits close to my heart because it's in the town where I grew up, yet I haven't visited (except for seeing family) since college. Now, I'm not trying to age myself, but it's been over 20 years. Am I expecting to see my friends? Probably not, but going home and reliving memories always fills my cup with nostalgia. If you live nearby, keep your eyes peeled for more info. I hope to see you there! Book LifeFamily is Family, my 10th manuscript (not counting the Block Island rewrites), is headed to the editor June 12th. I'm in the final read-through, and with each pass, I love it more and more. Violet, my protagonist, is someone you will root for from start to finish, and her ex-husband, Reid, is probably someone you'll dislike for 90% of the book. Their girls each have their own personality that shines through and challenges Violet's growth. It's a heartwarming story about family, unconditional love, and saying no. I promise, she eventually finds her way. I got my first cover draft today, and I LOVED it. Once it's done, I promise to share it with you! Gratitude LifeRight now, as I sit on our three-season porch with my writer friends doing writer stuff on Zoom, I am satisfied. The sun is shining, it's almost summer vacation, and I have lots of author-things to look forward to. I hope you are having a great day, too. Keep reading, Edy
P.S. - If you recently read any of the Block Island Saga, I would LOVE for you to leave a rating or a review. Ratings and reviews are my bread and butter, and it is a great way to let authors know you enjoy their stories. Leaving a review is easy. Scroll down to where the reviews start, and on the left side, you'll see a box that says, 'write a customer review'. Since my books are now in Kindle Unlimited and only available on Amazon, here is where you can leave a rating or a review:
