Hello Reader,

Today was my last day of school! I am officially 19 years into my career as a Speech-Language Pathologist and 7 years into my career as an author. It's amazing how quickly the years fly by. I remember the day I decided I was going to write a novel. It was the last day of school in 2018. I had the entire summer to dedicate to writing (if you ignore two small children and a handful of pets that vied for my time), and I did it. Looking back, there were so many mistakes along the way, but those mistakes have gotten me here. Sitting on my couch, watching the World Cup, writing to you!

Writing Corner:

Somehow, I have no writing news. I'm taking a rest, and I don't know how long it will be, but I'm doing my best not to let it bring me down. I know the best writers take a break to experience and observe the world around them. My creativity may be low, but I know something (whether a conversation I overhear, an interaction I see, or a place I visit) will rekindle my need to storytell.

I do have a book coming out in October, and although the final book blurb isn't perfected just yet, I'd LOVE to share it with you. Remember, this is a work in progress.

It is currently with my editor, but I will post the ARC link when it's ready!

Reading Corner

I've recently gotten into audiobooks, and I just listened to Mailman, by Stephen Starring Grant. It was highly entertaining! When I was younger, I wanted to be a mailman because it would allow me to glimpse into other people's lives (maybe that was my first inclination toward writing). Fun Fact: I worked in the mailroom while in college. I loved getting mail, and I loved flipping through the magazines before dispersing them to the dorms.

The last book I read was Cocoa Beach Bakery, by Cecelia Scott, the fifth book in a series. It was also my first Cecelia Scott novel, and I must say, I would recommend starting at book 1. I think I wouldn't have had to work so hard to keep everyone straight. It was cute, and definitely a book you'd read on the beach when life seems a little too perfect.

And my current book is We Were Liars, by E. Lockhart. I did watch and enjoy the miniseries, so I am curious how the book differs.

As you can see, I genre hop. To me, a good book is a good book.
