December Gifts Inside!
|
Hello Reader, Welcome to Edy's Writing World! Take a peek into my chaotic December, but don't worry, I have plenty of bookish things in store for you today! Make sure you read until the end π Writing CornerEmbracing Island Life, the third and final installment of The Block Island Saga is almost done. I think I've reread and reworked this novel from start to finish at least seven times. Let's just say my eyeballs are struggling to focus and I am beginning to question my life choices....just kidding (kind of). But really, it's been a wild ride. This series has been following me since 2019. I've published books 1 and 2 twice and am now ready to get Jackie's story out there. It will be available just in time for the summer. I got a brand new notebook, which I'm obsessed with, and I've been jotting down all the book ideas I've had over the past few years. I think the hardest thing when starting a new novel is figuring out which story idea is worth the hundreds of hours to perfect. And what if I pick the wrong one? There is so much pressure. I do have a few ideas percolating, but first I am going to take a break from all things books and just experience life. Maybe I'll go visit a place I've never been, or eat a food I've never eaten, or do an activity that is totally out of character for me (for me, being the scaredy-cat I am, ax-throwing would suffice for this category). βIf you have any fun ideas or places to visit please let me know!β My mantra for my time away will be "It is not the destination where you end up but the mishaps and memories you create along the way!" Penelope Riley Writing is cathartic and reading inspires, but feeling and seeing and touching are necessary to pull off a believable story. So mark your calendars for May 15th. Jackie's story is coming into the world. And to celebrate, I am going to Block Island. Gratitude CornerThis has been a crazy two weeks. Sometimes I wake up and I have no idea what day it is. I figure it's just the Holiday Blitz, but I'm tired! I haven't been able to go for walks because the sun sets so early and the temperature has been frigid, but I have been diving into some new books and LOTS of baking experiments. My new favorite show is the Holiday Baking Championship, and I have been inspired on more than one occasion. I even boiled myself some homemade evaporated milk the other day because we were out. So what was I grateful for? First of all, that sky. It looked like craquelin, or at least how I imagine craquelin looks. If you are unfamiliar, like I was, that refers to the topping on cream puffs (haha, can you tell I've been watching baking shows?). It was gorgeous, and after I missed the Northern Lights I was so happy to get outside and look up. These two rascals are my cats. The one on top is Julia aka Bubba Chunks. The one below is Curtis J or Chester or Charlie. We adopted them as a mother-son duo (and yes, that giant orange blob is the baby), and it warmed my heart to see them spooning. We wonder who Curtis's dad is, and we're starting to think maybe a Maine Coone. Bubba was a teenage mom, so they're more like brother and sister. The next is my notebook. Isn't it so beautiful? I'm a bargain hunter and ordered this on Black Friday. I just love it. It makes me happy just looking at it. And the last is my newest audiobook. I LOVE it! It's such a fun, sweet, second chance romance and it is dedicated to all the 'whatifs' in life. Reading CornerAh, the moment you've all been waiting for!
